Valentin Lebedev
Diary of a Cosmonaut

Woke up today at 9; slept well. As the saying goes: “Guests are lovely, but they wear you out.” Then we slept more. Got up at 1 PM.

The station is a mess. Today we’re putting things in order. Slowly, we think, everything will sort itself out.

Silence. Tolya is looking at the Earth, and I put in a cassette with recordings from home. Lyusya sang “On the Little Porch Together” for me — our favorite — and then Vitalik recited “The Battle of Poltava.” Lyusya spoke to me so warmly that tears came to my eyes. And then two sessions with them. My soul rested. Lyusek is chattering away, so kind-hearted and warm.
