Day off. Woke up at 11 AM. The ground woke us. Today is the family meeting. We met them. Lyusek was beautiful, in a white dress. She surprised me — she’d invited Khazhbikar Khakyashevich Bokov from Checheno-Ingushetia. It was a pleasure to talk with him.
Our women were very pleased with yesterday’s visit to the French embassy. And now, they say, after the comm session they’re heading to Klimuk’s birthday party. They’ve been hitting the town.
I spent the whole day repairing our “Oasis” greenhouse — adjusting the water supply system, and got soaked myself. The problem is that at the cosmodrome in summer the humidity is low, temperatures high, and while “Oasis” sat uninstalled, all the gaskets in the water regulators dried out. So when we filled the system with water on board, they leaked.
I took them apart and, though it took all day, restored the system.
We asked them to pass along to all TsUP shifts that they should interrupt us less during visual observations, because when we pass over Soviet territory we have lots of conversations.
We’re passing Lake Baikal; to the east, solid cloud cover. On the northern shore of Lake Khanka — 6 fires. On the northeastern shore, 2 powerful smoke plumes.
Time to pay more attention to photo and film work, or we’ll end up with too little material that can’t be recreated later.
