Diary of a Cosmonaut

Woke up and see Sasha is already washing up. Lyosha has opened his eyes. Tolya was sleeping. Sveta was sleeping too. Yesterday we fell asleep around 4 AM. Lying in our sleeping bags, Sasha and I talked for about an hour — about home, about work, about how things are on Earth. Got up and the first order of business — feeding the crew. My condition, though I’m sleeping little, is holding. A tough day — lots of experiments. And you have to monitor everything, help out. Today the “Aelita” medical equipment also broke down. The crew forgot to turn it off, and it overheated and failed.

It left a bad taste. We finished the experiments around 9 PM. Sat down for dinner, talked. I spoke about sincerity, because even here, in space, people aren’t always able to shed the shackles of earthly relationships and be open.

Days are flying by fast; there’s lots of work. It’s now midnight. I’ll be writing letters home. I’m lazy about it, but I must. Where are my dear ones right now? They’re remembering me, probably, and I don’t even have the time to daydream about them, to be with them.
