Diary of a Cosmonaut

Medical day. We await the State Commission’s decision — whether the flight will be extended or not. Everyone at TsUP is silent for now. We’re in limbo workwise; we don’t even know whether to replant the garden.

Performed the ODNT experiment with vacuum trousers.

Pulse 82, blood pressure 133/75. Good. A.D. is satisfied.

We transmitted a radiogram to the State Commission stating our intention to continue flying:

“Dear Chairman of the State Commission, dear members of the State Commission.

A month and a half ago we were offered an extension of our work on board the station to expand the program of scientific and applied experiments. We agreed to this proposal, received the supplemental flight program, and set our sights on completing it. Our health is good.

We ask the State Commission, when considering the question of our mission’s completion date, to take into account our desire, determination, and readiness to carry out the additional flight program to the end. We understand the complexity of an evening landing and the responsibility of those making this decision, and we give our consent to it.

Berezovoy, Lebedev

By evening we learned the State Commission approved the extension.

Together with Tolya we discussed the situation. Hardships bring people together.
