Diary of a Cosmonaut

Slept well, mood is poor. Worked with Korund, ran its warm-up, and carried out minor other experiments. Repaired the condensate collector. Here’s a good example, by the way: the “Replace condensate collector” warning keeps lighting up. For a long time, Mission Control and we couldn’t figure out what was wrong. It turned out that after the container fills and we replace it, we didn’t have a 26-mm wrench in our set, so we had to unscrew the union nut with pliers, and after installing a new one we tightened it with pliers again, but couldn’t tighten it all the way. And there, it turns out, is a check valve that nobody mentioned anywhere, and it wasn’t opening. So when the condensate pumps turned on, pressure built up at the collector’s inlet because it was closed, and a false signal for a full collector was generated. Disorganization in one thing will inevitably cause a malfunction in another.

Off the Valdes Peninsula in South America, I observed a band of brownish-brown plankton stretching 300-400 km.
